We want Skillzonia to work for everyone. This page explains our goals, what we support today, known gaps, and how to contact us if you face a barrier.

It applies to originals.skillzonia.com and skillzonia.com, the on site community, lesson comments, and the chat assistant.

Contact: [email protected] for barriers and requests. For general support use the Help page.

Overview

Our goal is to help entrepreneurs in Nigeria and across Africa learn and grow. Accessibility is part of that goal. We design for clarity, speed, low data use, and keyboard control.

Standards we aim for

  • WCAG 2.1 level AA where possible
  • Keyboard access for key actions and navigation
  • Semantic HTML and proper labels
  • Visible focus states and sufficient color contrast
  • Clear language and simple page structure

If we miss a case, tell us and we will fix it.

What we support today

  • Keyboard: tab through menus, play or pause videos, open and close the chat, submit forms
  • Headings: pages use clear headings and landmarks
  • Contrast: brand colors meet contrast on text and key UI
  • Images: course covers and UI images have alt text or aria labels
  • Captions: we are adding captions to Originals videos. New videos ship with captions
  • Transcripts: we aim to add short summaries or transcripts where useful
  • Zoom: layouts support browser zoom up to 200 percent
  • Chat: the chat bubble supports keyboard and screen reader labels

Course content types

  • Video: short lessons with captions in progress. Players support keyboard
  • Text and images: simple language, alt text where needed
  • Downloads: we avoid PDFs when a page works better. If a PDF is used we try to make it tagged and readable
  • Community: BuddyPress areas use headings and labels. We moderate to keep content usable for everyone

Known issues and workarounds

AreaIssueWorkaroundStatus
Legacy videos Some older lessons do not have captions yet Email [email protected] and we will prioritize that course In progress
Third party embeds Some embeds may not expose full labels Use direct links where possible Ongoing
Community threads Very long threads can be hard to navigate Use search and jump links. We are testing thread tools Planned

Report a barrier or request help

Tell us what page or course you were on and what did not work. Include your browser and device if you can. We reply as fast as we can, usually within 5 business days.

You can also email [email protected] directly.

Improvement plan

  • Ship captions on all new Originals videos
  • Backfill captions on top courses first, then all courses
  • Add transcripts or summaries where they help
  • Expand keyboard tests on new features
  • Run periodic audits and fix issues we find

Third party platforms

We use tools like Tutor LMS and community plugins. We pick options that support accessibility. Some controls are managed by those vendors. If a third party limits a feature we will raise it with them or switch when it makes sense.
